Rogue is a dungeon crawling video game first developed by Michael Toy and Glenn Wichman around 1980. It is generally credited with being the first "graphical" adventure game, and was a favorite on college Unix systems in the early to mid-1980s, in part due to the procedural generation of game content.

About the YAR Project

Having recently entered into a my mid-life crisis, I have decided that instead of buying a flashy car or having a relationship with someone who could barely buy me my favorite scotch, that I would follow one of my oldest dreams to become and become a game designer.

I am not a professional game designer nor even a programmer. Although I have been working systems administration in Information Technology for almost 20 years. I am just a geek with a dream.

So instead of going to school for a few years, I am going to set out on my own resources and build my own version of a multi-player online Rogue-like game. I expect this to take about three years since I am starting from knowing almost nothing.

This Blog is my diary of my adventures as well as a means for me to keep on track.
